Dakota Cub Aircraft received design approval in May 1999, and parts manufacturing approval (PMA) for replacement wings in December 1999. This STC currently covers Piper models PA-18"150" and PA-18A"150" as indicated in the eligibility listing. These replacement wings are fabricated exclusively from aircraft quality materials. Their high strength and durable design provides an excellent replacement for the original wing assembly. The "Leading Edge Slot" wing design utilizes a "fixed" slot that is built into the airfoil contour not attached for strapped onto the airfoil contour. It allows the wing to fly effectively at high angles of attack which can reduce the take-off and landing distances. An additional safety benefit is the stall/spin resistance of this design.
